ItemThe Implementation of Spenpatly English Extracuricullar Activity in Increasing Students’ Grammar Ability at SMP Negeri 4 Luyo(Repository STAIN Majene, 2025-10-30)ABSTRACT Researcher : Selvi Reg. Number: 10256121033 Title : The Implementation of Spenpatly English Extracuricullar Activity in Increasing Students’ Grammar Ability at SMP Negeri 4 Luyo Grammar is an essential aspect of learning English because it forms the foundation for constructing correct sentences. However, grammar learning in formal classrooms is often limited by time constraints and a crowded curriculum. To address this issue, SMP Negeri 4 Luyo developed the SPENPATLY English extracurricular program as a flexible, interactive, and enjoyable non-formal learning platform. This study aims to describe the implementation of SPENPATLY extracurricular activities and to identify their advantages in improving students’ grammar skills. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that SPENPATLY is implemented consistently yet flexibly by applying the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and Project-Based Learning (PBL) approaches through discussions, educational games, role plays, and the use of visual media. These strategies not only increase students’ grammar ability, particularly tenses, but also foster motivation and encourage active participation. The study further shows that SPENPATLY has six main advantages: improving students’ grammar ability, providing a supportive environment, implementing interactive learning strategies, using individual approaches and continuous motivation, applying a peer teaching method, and integrating humor in educational games. Overall, SPENPATLY serves as a supportive activity that strengthens students’ grammar competence while promoting meaningful, effective, and enjoyable English learning, both in formal classrooms and as preparation for further education. ItemHigh School Students’ Perception and Expectation on English Teacher Competencies in Majene(Repository STAIN Majene, 2025-10-30)ABSTRACT Researcher : Mulkia Qurrata Ayun Reg Number : 10256119014 Title : High School Students’ Perception and Expectation on English Teacher Competencies in Majene This research is grounded in the significance of the teacher's role in English language instruction, highlighting the differences in students' perceptions and expectations of teacher competence that may affect the quality of learning and learning outcomes, and indicating that the varying positive and negative perceptions in Majene reveal several aspects of teaching that need improvement. This research aims to identify and understand students‘ perceptions and expectations of English teachers’ competencies in three public high schools in Majene, namely SMA Negeri 1 Majene, SMA Negeri 2 Majene, and SMA Negeri 3 Majene. This research used a qualitative approach with purposive sampling to select 17 students as participants. The selection criteria were based on students' academic achievement and level of engagement in English classes. Data were collected through focus group discussions (FGDs). The results showed variations in students‘ perceptions, with the majority showing positive perceptions of teachers’ ability to create an interesting learning atmosphere through humour and varied learning methods. However, some negative perceptions also emerged, especially towards teachers who were considered too relaxed and did not utilise diverse learning media. Positive perceptions raise students' expectations of teacher performance, while negative perceptions point to areas that need improvement. The conclusion of this study emphasises the importance of teachers meeting students' expectations on aspects of pedagogic, professional, social and personal competencies to improve the quality of education and student learning outcomes in Majene. Teachers need to continue to develop creative and effective approaches to teaching to fulfil students' expectations and improve those aspects that still require improvement. ItemTHE INFLUENCE OF TEACHER-STUDENT INTERACTION AND LEARNING INTEREST ON LEARNING OUTCOMES IN ENGLISH SUBJECT AT SMKN 1 MAJENE(Repository STAIN Majene, 2025-10-29)ABSTRACT Researcher : SITI RUHAEMA Reg Number : 10256119021 Title : THE INFLUENCE OF TEACHER-STUDENT INTERACTION AND LEARNING INTEREST ON LEARNING OUTCOMES IN ENGLISH SUBJECT AT SMKN 1 MAJENE This study aims to evaluate the influence of teacher-student interaction and learning interest on English learning outcomes at SMK Negeri 1 Majene. The research employed a quantitative method with a correlational design, and data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and documentation. Multiple linear regression analysis showed an F-value of 3.216 with a significance level of 0.046. This value is greater than the critical F-value (3.216 > 3.13) and the significance level is less than 0.05 (0.046 < 0.05), which means the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. This indicates that teacher- student interaction and learning interest significantly affect learning outcomes. The coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.088 indicates that 8.8% of the variability in learning outcomes can be explained by teacher-student interaction and learning interest, while 91.2% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. The study concludes that although teacher-student interaction and learning interest affect learning outcomes, their influence is limited and largely affected by other factors. ItemANALYSIS OF STUDENTS' DIFFICULTIES AND PREFERENCES IN LEARNING GRAMMAR IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH EDUCATION STUDENTS AT STAIN MAJENE(Repository STAIN Majene, 2025-10-29)x ABSTRACT Researcher : Rizka Nuralima Reg Number : 10256120042 Title : ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS' DIFFICULTIES AND PREFERENCES IN LEARNING GRAMMAR IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH EDUCATION STUDENTS AT STAIN MAJENE This research examines the difficulties and learning preferences of English Education students at STAIN Majene in learning grammar. Grammar is considered a fundamental part of a language due to it contains structure or rules on how the parts of a language are used, while Indonesian EFL students still find it difficult to learn English grammar as it has complex materials. Using a mixed- method approach with a purposive sampling technique, the research includes semi- structured interviews with 15 students from the 2021-2023 cohorts and a questionnaire distributed to all 70 students. This research employed Miles and Huberman‟s data reduction analysis and descriptive statistical analysis techniques in analyzing the data. Findings indicate that students struggle with environmental factors (lack of practice, limited class time), psychological factors (fear of judgment, varied perceptions of grammar's importance), and linguistic factors (material complexity, tense diversity. Students demonstrate diverse learning preferences, with kinesthetic learning being most preferred (82%), followed by auditory (73%) and visual learning (70%). They favor video-based applications (94%) and media-integrated lectures with quick feedback (92%). While individual learning is slightly preferred over collaborative learning, students adapt their preferences contextually, emphasizing the need for hands-on practice, multimedia integration, and flexible learning environments. This highlights the need for educators to adapt teaching methods to address these difficulties and accommodate diverse learning preferences. Implementing engaging instructional strategies can enhance student comprehension and retention of grammar, offering valuable insights for improving English education programs and guiding future research.
